The Blancos have confirmed that Uruguayan international midfielder Federico Valverde has suffered a broken leg.
Real Madrid have now disclosed that Valverde sustained a severe leg injury during the weekend fixture which could see him on the sidelines for a long period, but they did not specify the exact timeframe for his recovery.
A statement Real Madrid’s on their official website reads: “Following tests carried out on our player, Federico Valverde, by Real Madrid Medical Services, he has been diagnosed with a fracture in the posterior tibial bone in his right leg.
“His recovery will continue to be assessed.”
Valverde will most definitely miss out his country’s next round of World Cup qualifiers, with Uruguay who are scheduled to play Colombia on Friday before facing Brazil four days later.
Valverde has established himself as one of the most reliable members of the Balncos squad having played a key role at the start of the season, scoring three goals in 11 matches across all competitions
